Hints and Tips

Getting Event and Match Updates

During the season, updating from the Twitter feed brings in real-time unofficial match results. Updating the Event Info will bring in the official match results, plus record, ranking and award data as it becomes available.

During the Championship event, be sure to update both the Twitter feed periodically throughout the day and the Event Info at least once per day either late each night or early the next morning.

To get the fastest updates, leave Twitter on manual and load new Tweets when you want to see any new scores. This will also be the nicest to your battery as you'll only be downloading data when you want to see it.

Getting Your Team Photo Into FRC Tracker

FRC Tracker has a built-in photo sharing service for team robot photos. For the ideal appearance in FRC Tracker, the robot photo should be 320 pixels wide and 367 pixels tall, or larger in approximately that same ratio. Really, anything that's approximately square will be fine. Photos that are really tall and narrow don't look nice, and photos that have been letterboxed with black bars don't work well. If your robot is tall and narrow, you can make your photo more square by adding team members or field elements on the sides.

Here are some good examples from 2009:

Team 20 Awesome photo, good proportions for FRC Tracker, team number clearly visible.
Team 40 Nice photo that works well even though it's not perfectly proportioned for FRC Tracker. It would be better with a visible team number.
Team 111 A very nice, imposing photo from the 2009 world champions, although a prominent team number would be nice.
Team 1983 A very nice on-the-field shot.
Team 2587 Good scoring photo.
