2008 Roadster iPod Cable Installation

Photos showing the disassembly required to run a new iPod cable in the 2008 Tesla Roadster. The original JVC unit runs one cable to a collection of devices stored in a polystyrene insert at the bottom of the area behind the left dash/console piece. From there, the iPod support module runs a custom iPod cable under the driver side carpet and into the bottom of the lower center console piece. Replacing that cable requires removing the left console pieces, the driver's seat and the entire center console.

To remove the center console, start with the cover that has the 12V and USB sockets. It's held in place with four plastic screws that fit a square head Robertson #5-#7 driver. Next remove two 6 mm hex socket bolts from the front end of the carbon fiber piece, then one 10 mm hex head bolt through the middle (next to the yellow sticker) and another at the back. Unplug the electrical cables running into the carbon fiber piece.
